What can go up a chimney down, but not down a chimney up?
What speaks all languages, save one?
A ship that has gone from port,
A port that is out to sea,
The hand that isn't shaking,
What ever you leave me.
In shadows deep, I silently creep,
A shiver down your spine, in dreams I seep.
In the unknown's grasp, I hold you near,
A nameless dread, what am I, clear?
What sphinxes employ, The players enjoy.

A prisoner’s bane when bound with chains.
I can be tied in a braid, or cut with a blade.
To form a gateway in dam rivers laid.
Before it’s born, its skeleton does grow upon the land.
Then near the sea it grows and grows until its form is grand.
And though it swims upon the waves, it dies upon the sand.
Shot if caught, always thrown,
A humble servant of The Lady,
Thrice-four faces of mine-own
I frequent the spaces shady
